ESG
Together, at Igne, we are not just building a business; we are shaping a future that we can all be proud of — a sustainable future that is just and prosperous for all.
At Igne Group Ltd, we understand that true sustainability means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This guiding principle, originally defined by the Brundtland Commission, informs all aspects of our operations and services. We are dedicated to being environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable to ensure long-term success and wellbeing for both current and future stakeholders.
Our Approach to Sustainability
Environmental Responsibility:
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through compliance with GHG Protocols. We are aware of our responsibilities to the environment and biodiversity impact of our operations and actively try to reduce our environmental impact and minimise waste. Our initiatives include conserving resources, investing in renewable energy, and modernising our equipment to improve energy efficiency. We engage with alternative energy suppliers and collaborate with clients to proactively reduce site environmental impacts.
Social Responsibility:
Promoting fair labour practices and investing in community development are at the heart of our social responsibility efforts. We strive to create an inclusive culture that reflects the diversity of our communities, ensuring every employee feels valued and empowered. We also prioritise the health, safety, and wellbeing of our workforce, implementing rigorous safety protocols and maintaining a proactive approach to mental health and wellbeing.
Economic Viability:
Sustainability for Igne means balancing profit with social and environmental impact. Our strategies are aligned with international standards, ensuring compliance and fostering a sustainable and responsible business model.
2023 ESG Report: A Commitment to Transparency
Our inaugural 2023 Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Report marks the beginning of a structured approach to documenting and improving our impact on the world. This report reflects our commitment to transparency and provides details on our ESG progress for the calendar year ending December 31, 2023, with baseline data from FY2022.
Key Topics Covered:
- Environmental Impact and Carbon Reduction
- Social Initiatives and Fair Labour Practices
- Governance and Ethical Business Practices
We have used the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guiding framework for our ESG initiatives, selecting those most relevant to our operations. Our report covers our UK operations and includes performance metrics and future plans for advancing our ESG roadmap.
Achievements and Future Goals
ISO Certification:
In the past year, we expanded our ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 accreditation from 11 to 24 certificates covering the entire Igne Group. This external recognition validates our quality, health, safety, and environmental efforts, ensuring that our policies and procedures are fit for purpose.
Gender Equality and Fair Labour:
We are dedicated to increasing the number of females in managerial positions, aiming to exceed the construction industry average of 15%.
Climate Change and Carbon Emissions:
Addressing climate change is a significant element of our sustainability strategy. We are reducing emissions by modernising our transport fleet, increasing EV capability, and selecting green energy partners. Our goal is to pave our route to Net Zero by setting clear targets and measuring our progress.
Health, Safety, and Wellbeing:
The safety and wellbeing of our employees are paramount. We have appointed Mental Health First Aiders at all offices and promote a culture of mental wellbeing through our award-winning programs. Our safety performance metrics demonstrate our proactive approach to creating a safe work environment.
Looking Ahead
As we move forward, we remain committed to improving our ESG performance and integrating sustainability into our core business strategy. We will continue to issue annual ESG reports, engage with stakeholders, and set ambitious targets to ensure we are on track for a sustainable future.
